Na zijn vereerde meesterwerken The Spirit of the Beehive en El Sur, en 30 jaar na zijn met de Cannes-prijs bekroonde Dream of Light, komt de legendarische filmmaker Víctor Erice terug met CLOSE YOUR EYES, een meeslepende reflectie over identiteit, herinnering en filmmaken. Met Manolo Solo (The Fury of a Patient Man) en Jose Coronado (No Rest for the Wicked) in de hoofdrollen, herenigt CLOSE YOUR EYES Erice ook met Ana Torrent, 50 jaar na The Spirit of the Beehive. Erice wordt door velen beschouwd als een van de grootste filmmakers aller tijden en is terug om het publiek te betoveren met zijn vierde film, die beschouwd wordt als een nieuwe klassieker in de hedendaagse cinema.

CLOSE YOUR EYES draait om een beroemde Spaanse acteur, Julio Arenas, die verdwijnt tijdens het filmen van een film. Hoewel zijn lichaam nooit wordt gevonden, concludeert de politie dat hij een ongeluk heeft gehad op een klif aan zee. Vele jaren later wordt het mysterie opnieuw opgerakeld door een tv-programma dat de acteur probeert op te roepen door als primeur beelden te bieden van de laatste scènes waaraan hij meewerkte, gefilmd door zijn goede vriend, regisseur Miguel Garay.

CLOSE YOUR EYES turns on a famous Spanish actor, Julio Arenas, who disappears while filming a movie. Although his body is never found, the police conclude that he has suffered an accident at a cliff by the sea. Many years later, the mystery is brought up once more by a TV program that tries to evoke the actor, offering as a scoop images of the last scenes in which he participated, shot by his close friend, director Miguel Garay.

CIERRA LOS OJOS gira en torno a un famoso actor español, Julio Arenas, que desaparece durante el rodaje de una película. Aunque nunca se encuentra su cuerpo, la policía llega a la conclusión de que ha sufrido un accidente en un acantilado junto al mar. Muchos años después, el misterio vuelve a surgir a través de un programa de televisión que intenta evocar al actor, ofreciendo como primicia imágenes de las últimas escenas en las que participó, rodadas por su íntimo amigo, el director Miguel Garay.

ASFF, gelanceerd, georganiseerd en stevig geprogrammeerd door Sin Fin Cinema, biedt een showcase van nieuwe trends van de reguliere Spaanse cinema en richt zich op een diversiteit aan films, met name onafhankelijke, artistieke en experimentele Spaanse films.

Spanish Film Festival is a unique film exhibition initiative allowing people based in Amsterdam, Rotterdam, The Hague and broader audiences to discover and engage with a carefully honed selection of cinema from Spain and Spanish speaking Latin America. ASFF launched, organised and solidly programmed by Sin Fin Cinema, provides a showcase of new trends of mainstream Spanish cinema as well as focusing on a diversity of films, specially independent, artistic and experimental Spanish films.
