Discover the unique combination of nature and cultural heritage during this bike ride along the River Amstel. The Amstel area is home to several historic villas, farms and windmills that are listed as monuments. Whilst you cycle, enjoy the views of the river and polder and hop off your bike once in a while to visit the heritage sites. Walk around the historic Wester-Amstel country estate and pause for a delicious lunch at 't Jagershuis - a historic meeting place for hunters.

The route starts at the Zorgvlied cemetery and ends at the old Kruitmolen (powder mill). From there, you can take the manually operated historic ferry and cycle back via the other side of the river. Check out the ferry's schedule here.

If you are curious to other parts of Amstelveen, you can also cycle back through the city. Cycle via het Oude Dorp (the old village) and shopping centre Stadshart, to circle back to Amsterdam.
