| Team Visit Amstelveen

Wester-Amstel is the oldest country estate along the Amstel. Stroll through stately gardens, soak up the tranquility of the countryside, and enjoy live jazz concerts, all just minutes away from Amsterdam.

Wester-Amstel in autumn colors

October is the last month you can visit the Wester-Amstel estate on weekends. Once a summer retreat for wealthy city dwellers, today it’s a green oasis just outside the city. Escaping the hustle of the city is a pleasure here in every season, not only in summer.

Walk through the historic gardens filled with sculptures and monuments and enjoy the peace, while the Amstel river flows just around the bend.

Jazz at Wester-Amstel

First, wander through the gardens in their full autumn glory, then settle down in the monumental hall for an intimate jazz concert surrounded by art. There’s hardly a more atmospheric way to welcome the fall season.

During each season of Jazz at Wester-Amstel, the estate hosts concerts on the first Sunday of every month, featuring both renowned jazz musicians and emerging talent.

Culture along the Amstel

Wester-Amstel isn’t the only cultural gem along the Amstel. Get inspired at the same spots where Rembrandt once painted (a statue marks one of his favorite places), discover the graves of historical figures at Zorgvlied cemetery, and end your day with a local beer at a pop-up café in a historic hunting lodge.

Discover it all along this route.

  • Bike route: Nature and cultural Heritage along the Amstel River

Along the River Amstel lie several historic villas, farms and windmills that are listed as monuments. Enjoy the views of the river and visit the heritage sites.
