Create your own Christmas ornaments, enjoy classic holiday traditions, or burn off all your energy. There’s a wide range of festive activities to choose from!
Christmas the Cobra Way
I get it. Visiting a museum isn’t on every child’s Christmas bucket list, but the current exhibition De Cycloop might be the perfect opportunity to spark a love for art—or, better yet, get the ball rolling.
De Cycloop is all about marbles and features interactive artworks where each artist has creatively built their own artistic marble run. Get hands-on: every Wednesday and Sunday, visitors can help build a marble run or use marbles instead of brushes to create a painting.
Especially for Christmas, there are several workshops where you can create classic holiday items yourself: ornaments, Christmas cards, and gingerbread cookies. Speaking of classics, there’s also a special screening of How the Grinch Stole Christmas.
Bonus Exhibition Tip
The results of the youth workshop Drawing Playing Cards can be viewed for free at KunstLokaal SAKB. Young people aged 13–18 have designed their own card games. Each deck has its own theme; for example, there’s a Multiverse deck where spades, clubs, hearts, and diamonds are replaced with Marvel, Sonic, Pixar, and Pokémon.
Meet & Greets at Stadshart on Ice
Always wanted a photo with your favorite Disney princess or superhero? At Stadshart on Ice, you can do it all! Every week there are fun meet & greets where you can not only take photos with your heroes but even skate together.
Jumping Winter Wonderland
In the Ben Goudsmithal, Jumping in Winter Wonderland takes place, an inflatable festival in a winter setting. With a variety of winter-themed attractions, children can fully enjoy themselves—from riding a reindeer rodeo to an exciting competition in the interactive arena.
Parents can join the festival for free while their children play.
Holidays in the Theater
Musical classics and puppet shows: theater during the Christmas season is perfect for presenting classic stories with a modern twist. Fun adaptations based on picture books or well-known characters embarking on a winter adventure. A great example is The Wiz, a modern take on The Wizard of Oz that has now become a classic in its own right.
