Whether it’s spring or the height of summer, when the first warm rays of sun reach the Netherlands, it’s time to hit the terraces! That’s why we’ve put together a list of the best terraces in Amstelveen. Whether you want to sit close to the shops or right in nature, everything is possible in Amstelveen. This summer, visit them all and enjoy a delicious drink and snack in the sun, by the water, or in the city!

Lucia’s Rooftop Terrace - Summer evening with a view

Lucia’s rooftop terrace may be the best-kept secret of Amstelveen. Few people know that you can come here to dine and have drinks even without staying at the Cityden hotel. The terrace is open daily until 10:00 PM, so even in the middle of summer, you can watch the sunset with a glass of wine or a mocktail in hand. Even one floor below, you have a beautiful view on cloudy days.

Wijngaard de Amsteltuin - Enjoyment with a French touch

  • amsteltuin wijngaard Amstelveen

Imagine yourself in France without crossing the border. Enjoy a delicious high wine basket, filled with assorted snacks and a chilled bottle of wine from Wijngaard de Amsteltuin! From May through September, you can enjoy a glass of wine on a terrace among the vines on weekends. What more could you want?!

KEK! in the Jagershuis - Craft beers by the Amstel

Delightful drinks by the water with a few cool beers! That’s what summer is all about. For the second, and perhaps final year, you can enjoy this pop-up by KEK brewery at the Jagershuis. The two brothers behind KEK! come from Ouderkerk aan de Amstel and have chosen a stunning spot—there’s no other terrace with such a beautiful view of Ouderkerk. For a day out, you can combine the terrace with a bike ride, paddleboarding on the Amstel, or a game of pétanque.

Het Wapen van Amstelveen - The heart of the old village

Once a grocery store, it’s now the coziest brown café in Amstelveen. In the middle of the old village of Amstelveen, on a sunny day, you can enjoy the charming terrace of Het Wapen van Amstelveen. Here, you can have a traditional bittergarnituur (snack platter) or just a portion of cheese or liverwurst. In short: this terrace offers true old-Dutch gezelligheid.

SUNday - Every day feels like a Sunday

At SUNDAY Floating Foodbar, every day feels like Sunday with dishes and drinks in a relaxed and cozy setting. Unwind in the greenhouse or on the sunny terrace floating on the water. Choose from the homemade soup of the day, a Sunday Sandwich, or something from the Sunday Shared menu, where all dishes are meant to be shared.
