This cycling tour takes you past farmhouses and river views alongside the Amstel River.
Many renowned Dutch painters have painted the Amstel. Near the restaurant Klein Kalfje stands the Rieker windmill and a statue of Rembrandt. This was one of his favorite places to sketch. Other artists like Aert van der Neer and Piet Mondriaan could also be found sketching on the banks of the river.
On the Amstelveen side of the river you'll pass the eighteenth-century Wester-Amstel country estate. Stop here for a short walk through the beautiful garden. During the summer visitors can enjoy exhibitions, poetry and music performances inside the house. Click here for the summer schedule.
