Route Description
1. Start the route at the Kerkbrug over the Bullewijk with a lovely view of Ouderkerk aan de Amstel. Head north along Kerkstraat, passing Beth Haim on your right, and then onto Korendragerstraat. After 225 meters, at the intersection with Dorpsstraat, you’ll reach junction 62.
2. Follow the signs to junction 61. Cross the bridge and continue along Amsteldijk Noord towards junction 60. At the edge of Ouderkerk, you'll pass Windmill De Zwaan. You are now in the northern tip of Amstelland, known as the cherished green lung of Amsterdam.
3. At junction 60, follow the signs in this sequence: 84 – 83 – 85 – 88 – 87 – 66 – 67 – 68 – 93.
4. At junction 93, turn left toward 28. You're now on the Rijke Weidevogelboulevard, where you'll find various information boards about meadow bird conservation efforts by local farmers. After about 2 kilometres, turn left onto the Weidevogelpad. Follow the path past the meadow bird farm, where you'll find more informational signs. At the end, turn right onto Amsteldijk Zuid and continue following the junction signs to 29.
5. At junction 29, take the ferry (pont) across the Amstel-Drecht Canal to junction 39. Continue along the Waverdijk via 1 and 2 to junction 49, and from there go via 50 to 69.
6. At junction 69, head a short distance toward 71, and after 650 meters use the hand-operated ferry (trekpontje) to cross the Holendrecht River. On the other side, turn left and follow the dike. At the end, you’ll find a pumping station and the Bird Watching Hut (Vogelkijkschuur) behind it. Return the same way, cross back using the hand ferry, and turn right to return to 69. Cross the bridge (Voetangelbrug) and turn right toward 62.
7. Follow the dike along the Bullewijk. You can continue along the Bullewijk back to junction 62, the starting point at the Kerkbrug. Alternatively, shortly before the A9 viaduct, turn left onto Polderweg. After about 1 km, you’ll reach Farm Polderzicht on the left. At the end of Polderweg, turn right, go under the viaduct, and continue straight into the village – do not stay on the bike path. You're now riding into the historic centre of Ouderkerk aan de Amstel. Continue straight. Polderweg becomes Achterdijk, and after passing the church, you'll be back at your starting point on the Kerkbrug.
