The Indian Kitchen

The Indian Kitchen is a North Indian restaurant on Karel Doormanweg in Amstelveen. Traditional flavours and contemporary presentation are at the heart of The Indian Kitchen, in a setting where the colour of India meets Dutch simplicity.

A family restaurant since 2011
The Indian Kitchen was founded in 2011 by the Katyal family and, according to the restaurant itself, was the very first Indian restaurant in Amstelveen. Its recipes have been refined generation after generation. Every guest at The Indian Kitchen is greeted with namaste, which literally means "I bow to you", as a sign of respect and hospitality.

Straight from the tandoor
Many dishes at The Indian Kitchen come from the tandoor, the traditional Indian clay oven. Think tandoori chicken marinated in yoghurt and spices, or chicken tikka made with thigh meat marinated overnight. Lamb rogan josh, a Mughlai dish from Kashmir, fish karahi and murgh biryani are on the menu too. Vegetarians can choose from samosa, hara bhara kabab, paneer tikka haryali and muttar paneer, among others.

Lounge, private dining and catering
The lounge at The Indian Kitchen is the place for an aperitif before dinner or a chai with friends before heading to the cinema. The drinks list includes lassis, Indian beers and cocktails with exotic fruits and spices, such as the Spicy Mangotini.

The Indian Kitchen also hosts private dining for companies, families and parties, and provides catering, for example as a weekly Indian office lunch. The restaurant is open every evening, seven days a week.
