Lita Cabellut x Goya
For the first time in the Netherlands, 22 monumental contemporary works by Lita Cabellut (1961) are presented alongside the 22 mysterious etchings from Los Disparates (The Follies) by Francisco de Goya (1746–1828). Two artists from different centuries meet in an exhibition that challenges visitors to look beyond the surface.
Goya portrays a world of madness, political chaos and moral decay. Cabellut responds with powerful paintings, sculptures and installations that engage in dialogue with these iconic prints. Themes such as identity, power, fear and ethics take centre stage, revealing how relevant Goya's confronting visual language remains today.
Through the characters in her work, Cabellut brings human vulnerability to life. Her socially critical perspective holds up a mirror to the viewer and invites reflection on today's world. An exhibition that confronts, moves and inspires.
