The show is the autobiographical musical by Jonathan Larson, best known for his phenomenal hit musical RENT. Tragically, Larson never lived to see its success: he passed away in 1996 at the age of 35, just before RENT’s premiere. His earlier work, tick, tick…BOOM!, is now performed by a unique cast of three outstanding actors: Milan van Waardenburg as Jon, Liss Walravens as Susan, and Paul Morris as Michael.

The Story
The musical tick, tick…BOOM! tells the story of ambitious composer Jon, who in early 1990s New York is struggling to find work. As his 30th birthday approaches, he begins to wonder if he will ever achieve anything. He is writing Superbia, a script he hopes will become the next big Broadway musical. At the same time, he faces pressure from his girlfriend Susan, who is tired of putting her life on hold for Jon’s ambitions. Meanwhile, his best friend Michael trades his artistic dreams for a well-paid job in advertising.

As the clock keeps ticking and his 30th birthday draws near, Jon becomes consumed by performance pressure and fear of failure.
