Amstelveen 60 years - Kick-off
Amstelveen celebrates its 60th anniversary this year, marking a milestone since the name change from the municipality of Nieuwer-Amstel in 1964. In honor of this occasion, various cultural, social, and sporting events will be organized this summer and fall to connect the residents of Amstelveen with each other and with the city.
The kick-off of the anniversary year will take place on June 15 at the Stadsplein during Amstelveen Beach. Everyone is warmly invited to participate in the festivities. The program for the day includes:
11:25 AM: Performance by trumpeters
11:30 AM: Short speech and opening ceremony by the mayor (start of sand artwork)
11:34 AM: Continuation of trumpeters' performance
12:00 PM: Official opening of the Beach Event with a speech by the mayor
12:05 PM: Opening beach volleyball match

Additionally, the SportExperience will take place at the Stadsplein from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM, organized by AmstelveenSport. This interactive sports market offers various activities, including an ice cream stall where children up to 10 years old can get an ice cream in exchange for a colored-in coloring page (while supplies last). A healthy treat is also available.
