Highland cows are the natural mowers of the forest. The Scottish Highlanders keep the grass short, so that the terrain is kept open and the existing meadows are kept intact. The animals are very impressive to behold!
When can you see the Highland cows?
You can find the Highland cows in the forest both in winter and summer. The cows can withstand the cold and stay outside even in winter. In summer they prefer the shade of the forest.
Did you know?
A Scottish Highlander carries 9 months and can even give birth to as many as 15 calves in her entire life!
