Sal Meijer started out in 1957 on Jodenbreestraat in Amsterdam, as a meeting place for the Jewish community. The shop later moved to Nieuwmarkt and then to Scheldestraat, where the menu was expanded with homemade products such as the fish cakes. Today you will find Sal Meijer in Amstelveen.
Sal Meijer has always remained a family business. Son Nico joined in 1961, and in 1981 Sal handed the business over to his son-in-law Maurits and daughter Marjan. In 2017, Sal Meijer celebrated its sixtieth anniversary.
