PAWS
PAWS is a public artwork located in Uilenstede, Amstelveen. In front of the Upper East venue stand two sculptural cat paws that also function as seating. The work was created by artist and video director Aisha Madu, inspired by stories and experiences shared by residents and local entrepreneurs on the campus.
The artwork is part of The City as Canvas, an initiative by the Municipality of Amstelveen that develops public art in collaboration with the community. For Uilenstede, two artworks were commissioned from Aisha Madu and Gijs Frieling, selected through a process in which residents and local stakeholders played an active role.
