Peter en de Wolf (Peter and the Wolf)

One day, Peter forgets to close the garden gate, and the hungry wolf appears. The musical fairy tale Peter and the Wolf tells the story of Peter, who lives with his grandfather on the edge of the forest. He loves to play with his friends: the bird, the cat, and the duck. His grandfather repeatedly warns him to close the gate to protect everyone from the wolf. But when Peter forgets, the wolf emerges and swallows the duck. Then Peter comes up with a clever plan to save her…

During the performance, children listen to the music, marvel at the colorful projections, and get a unique behind-the-scenes look. The audience can watch the puppeteer at work and discover how the shadow play is created live.

About the production

This children’s classic, with the famous music by Sergei Prokofiev, is brought to life by Heinrich Heimlich as a vibrant shadow play. At the beginning, he introduces the main melodies and performs them on the original instruments. He then takes his place at the projection table, arranging the figures and bringing the story to life. As he narrates and the music plays, an impressive display of colored shadows appears on the screen.
