Head Of The River Amstel

On March 9th and 10th, the rowing season kicks off with the Head of the River Amstel. Rowers from home and abroad will once again compete for the Amstel championship.

With crews of four and eight, over 4,000 men and women will take to the Amstel. The races start in grouped categories, with teams setting off one after the other, resulting in thrilling overtaking maneuvers on the winding river.

The fours and eights start in Ouderkerk aan de Amstel and finish in Amsterdam, at rowing club De Hoop, approximately 100 meters before the Nieuwe Amstelbrug.

It's not just an exciting race for participants, but also for spectators and those who want to follow the action by cycling alongside the rowers.
