Harp Concert by Hedwig Brieffies
On Tuesday evening, July 15 at 8:15 PM, the Elsrijk Chamber Music Series presents a special harp concert by the talented Hedwig Brieffies. The program features highlights from the classical harp repertoire, including works by Bach, Purcell, and Scarlatti. Brieffies also performs Benjamin Britten’s Suite for Harp and Paul Hindemith’s expressive Sonata for Harp.
Modern harp compositions are also featured, such as Marius Flothuis’ Sonata for Harp and Sally Beamish’s rhythmically layered Awuya, inspired by African music. All pieces are original compositions for harp, making this concert a rich and varied journey for classical music lovers.

Hedwig Brieffies, a North Holland native, began playing the harp at the age of eight. She studied in the young talent class and completed her master’s degree at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, followed numerous masterclasses, and won second prize at the Rosa Spier Harp Competition. She graduated from the Amsterdam Conservatory in 2025.
