Digable Planets
After a sold-out show at Patronaat in 2024, legendary hiphop group Digable Planets returns to the Netherlands. On 25 August, the group will perform at the Amsterdamse Bos as part of Live at Amsterdamse Bos.
The Brooklyn-based group consists of Ishmael Butler (Butterfly), Craig Irving (Doodlebug), and Mary Ann Vieira (Ladybug Mecca). In the early 1990s, Digable Planets broke through internationally with their Grammy-winning hit Rebirth of Slick (Cool Like Dat) and became a defining name in alternative hiphop.
Their debut album Reachin’ (A New Refutation of Time and Space) was followed by Blowout Comb, an influential and forward-thinking record exploring themes such as Black Liberation and social consciousness. Their distinctive blend of jazz and hiphop left a lasting mark on music history.
