On Saturday, July 5, from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Urbanuspark will once again become the vibrant heart of Bovenkerk during the annual Summer Festival. This year, the celebration marks a special milestone: 80 years of freedom. In a world where freedom is not always guaranteed, the theme carries extra weight.
The Summer Festival is a beloved local tradition that brings together young and old for an afternoon of music, connection, children’s activities, delicious food, and plenty of community spirit. Everyone is welcome to reflect on the meaning of freedom while enjoying all the things that make Bovenkerk unique.

Live performances by local artists set the festive mood. Don’t be surprised if the crowd joins in singing the well-known village anthem, Ode aan Bovenkerk. -
Bovenkerk Bake-Off
Neighbors present their best cakes in a local bake-off. A professional jury from Banketbakkerij Arnold Cornelis will judge the creations—afterwards, the public is invited to taste. -
Children’s Activities
Kids can enjoy sports and games, breakdance lessons, a cheerful silent disco, and creative workshops themed around freedom. Every child receives a freedom pin and certificate upon completion.
The Summer Festival is made possible by Stichting Bovenkerk, Stichting Amstelidee, the Noorddamcentrum, and the efforts of many volunteers.
