Diederik Schneemann – 1 + 1 =3
Designer Diederik Schneemann (1979) explores the concept of value in his work, using existing objects or waste. With thousands of dice, washed-up slippers, perfume bottles, and matchboxes, he creates furniture, sculptures, and installations.
Schneemann transforms objects by altering their appearance or function, giving them an extra dimension. At the same time, he playfully questions originality, copyright, and the commercial side of art and design. What seems worthless becomes valuable, gaining new meaning: 1+1=3.
His latest and intriguing creations are on display in his first museum solo exhibition at Museum JAN in Amstelveen.
