About Dora Tuynman
In the 1950s, Tuynman lived and worked in the renowned Parisian warehouse and studio building on Rue Santeuil, where artists like Karel Appel, Corneille, Lotti van der Gaag, and Bram Bogart also worked. Tuynman found relative success in Paris but struggled to replicate that success upon returning to the Netherlands. Like many female artists of the 20th century, Tuynman faded into obscurity—consciously or unconsciously sidelined by an art history that focused primarily on male artists.
