In part three, Adam and Eve celebrate their happiness in paradise, sung by the same soloists as Raphael and Gabriel. After each day of creation, the choir marks the moment with a grand choral piece.

Haydn paints with sound: birdsong, roaring lions, wriggling worms and a majestic sunrise each get their own music. The most famous moment comes right at the start. After a dark, mysterious opening depicting the chaos before creation, the choir sings "Es ward Licht" ("And there was light"), and on the word Licht the full choir and orchestra burst into a radiant C major chord.
