Sparkling, connecting and stilling. In the performance Bach, three choreographers are inspired in their own way by the impressive oeuvre of the world-famous composer.

Selon désir by Andonis Foniadakis is a whirlwind of energy and desire on the Matthew and John passions. The light-footed Corpus Bach by Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui brings a playful interplay between two dancers, accompanied live by a cellist. Manuelle Vignoulle has created a new work especially for Bach, a meditative ensemble piece about the search for your true self. Introdans dancers and filmmakers Jurriën Schobben and Alberto Villanueva Rodríguez create a cinematic intermezzo.

Selon désir is a whirlwind of energy and desire, set to the opening choruses of both Bach's Matthew and St. John Passions. 'It is unbelievable what choreographer Andonis Foniadakis does with the dancers,' says artistic director Roel Voorintholt. “He asks the utmost of them, really moves every fiber. His work leaves no one untouched.”

Corpus Bach / Choreography Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui
It is well known that choreography and music are ideal (dance) partners. In the playful Corpus Bach, Flemish-Moroccan dance maker Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui takes this partnership to a higher level. Every note the cellist plays live on stage echoes in the dancers' undulating bodies, from their toes to their fingertips.

New work / Choreography Manuel Vignoulle
This new work by choreographer Manuel Vignoulle for a large dancer ensemble is about a personal journey: the one to your true self. 'We start with the outside,' says Vignoulle, 'the superficial facade, then we travel further and further inwards, until all the outer layers have been peeled off and we arrive at the essence, at the soul.' says Roel Voorintholt. "It's clean, quiet, meditative, without extras that don't really matter."

Dance movie
Introdans dancers and filmmakers Jurriën Schobben and Alberto Villanueva Rodríguez are also making a dance film. For the dance film, the makers are inspired by the life of Johann Sebastian Bach. His story is presented in a contemporary and abstract way through three important aspects of the composer's life.
